Take up more research work for self-reliance
Itanagar, Oct 1: Arunachal Pradesh Minister for Public Works Department Nabam Tuki has called upon the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) to take up more research work for self-reliance of the state as well as the country.
Addressing the awareness meet on Jatropha (bio-diesel) organised by NERIST under the aegis of district administration here yesterday, Mr Tuki said that Arunachal Pradesh was gifted with abundant natural resources, including medicinal plants, but these precious gift of nature could not get recognition due to lack of proper scientific knowledge of the people.
Pointing out the vast hydropower resources of the state, the minister said the state government has taken various steps to tap power potential and the state would become a powerhouse for the country within 10-15 years.
However, Tuki has thanked the Scientists for their initiative to make scientific use of 'Jatropha' for producing liquid fuel.
He also appealed to the panchayat leaders and progressive farmers to take up such cultivation methods for the production of bio-diesel.
