Schiavone ends Radwanska run to reach final

LUXEMBOURG, Sep 30 (Reuters) Italian Francesca Schiavone ended the giant-killing run of Agnieszka Radwanska at the Luxembourg Championship today, beating the teenage Polish qualifier 7-5 2-6 6-1 to reach the final.

The fifth seed held off a second-set fightback from the 17-year-old Radwanska to set up a final against Ukrainian Alona Bondarenko, a 6-3 5-7 7-5 winner over Czech Kveta Peschke.

Radwanska, the world number 95, had beaten former world number one Venus Williams and top seed Elena Dementieva on her way to her first career WTA Tour semi-final.

The experienced Schiavone took a tight first set 7-5 but was then stunned as the confident Radwanska raced through the second to level.

In the end though, a combination of the Italian's greater experience and perhaps some fatigue on the part of Radwanska gave Schiavone the edge.
