Road crash in Egypt kills 14
CAIRO, Oct 1 (Reuters) A truck and a minibus collided head-on south of Cairo in the early morning tonday, killing 14 people and injuring seven others, security officials said.
They said the minibus driver was trying to overtake another vehicle on a two-lane road and collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
The accident took place in the province of Beni Suef.
Reckless driving and the poor conditions of roads are blamed for many road crashes in Egypt. A series of transport accidents in recent months in which dozens have died have sparked public anger at what critics call the government's failure to enforce safety standards.
