Rain dampens Durga puja in Tripura
Agartala, Oct 1 (UNI) The festive mood during the first two days of Durga puja was initially dampened by the rains in Tripura which however retuned today.
The capital city in the state and other parts have experienced incessant rains last evening hampering the joyous mood of the people.
Thousands of people were seen waiting in front of puja pandals here and other district towns to get a glimpse of the Goddess Durga.
On Maha Asthami, all the roads in the capital city were overcrowded from evening till early morning today.
A police official in the headquarters here said that there were no reports of any untoward incident except for some road accidents.
Security forces maintained a close watch to keep the festive days trouble free.
On Maha Navami today, pilgrims thronged the puja pandals from the morning. However, weather also played foul and the sky was full of clouds.
Braving the weather conditions, a large number of people qued up to offer 'pushpanjali' today.
Met officials said rains might occur in many parts of the city.
