Planets captured on canvas

Bangalore, Oct 1 (UNI) After his successful foray into the astral world of Nakshatras through his paintings, freelance artist H N Suresh has effectively captured the related subjects of planets on canvas.

Spurred by the unprecedented response to his series on 'Nakshatra Mandala' both in India and abroad, Mr Suresh, Project Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan here, has successfully completed the nine plus one paintings, depicting the esoteric lords of the constellations in zodiac.

Painted in acrylic, the works could be termed as complementary to the earlier ones, portraying the presiding deities of the 12 constellations, each housing nine segments of the Nakshatras.

Talking to UNI, Mr Suresh said ''each of the nine main compositions is a conglomeration of symbols, even colour and space reduced to serve that purpose. If colours like red (Mars), white (Moon), red (Sun) and blue (Mercury) were used as symbols to represent the respective planets, a distinct spatial division depicts the twins Rahu and Ketu. The only planet where a dominant satellite distinguishes the delineation is Saturn, while the influential Guru (Jupiter) and Sukra (Venus) almost grow out of the framework as though in an effort to show their impactful presence.

What is important is their verily unambiguous, cogent denouement, a number of shapes and forms heightening the structural quality.'' MORE UNI MSP GD PA HT1302
