Govt to set up University: AP CM
Hyderabad, Oct 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said as 'Dussara Gift' to the people of the State, the Government had decided to establish one University, three medical colleges and two engineering colleges in the state.
Talking to newspersons here, he said all the six educational institutions to be established, would be under the Government control.
Dr Reddy said the proposed University would be established at Nalgonda to cater to the needs of the Nalgonda and Mahaboobnagar districts in Telangana Region. The Government had recently established Telangana University at Nizamabad six months ago, he added.
He said with the present one, Telangana region would have four Universities. The Government would establish three medical colleges, one each in Srikakulam, Adilabad and Prakasam districts, he added.
He said all the three colleges would work autonomously. The Government was considering to provide autonomous to all the Government medical colleges to avoid the staff and recruitment problems, he added.
He said the Government would establish two engineering colleges, one at Karimnagar and other at Vizianagaram under Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University(JNTU) control. There were 32 medical colleges, eleven Government colleges and 21 private colleges in the State, he added.
He said in Coastal Andhra Pradesh there were eight private medical colleges and four Government colleges, in Rayalaseema six private medical colleges and four Government colleges and in Telangana region eleven private colleges and three medical colleges.
He said the construction work of these institutions would commence immediately and expected to complete in one year. The details of the academic year, would be announced after detailed discussions with concerned officials, he added.
