DVK extends support to DMK in by-election

Chennai, Oct 1: The Dravida Villipunarchi Kazhagam (DVK) will extend its support to DMK in by-election to Madurai Central Assembly constituency scheduled on October 11 and the local bodies elections scheduled on October 13 and 15.

In a statement here today, DVK's Founder President Mr P T Kumar said a decision to this effect was adopted at the party's administration council which met here recently.

He said the party's decision was informed personally to DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

He said the decision to support the DMK was taken because they were impressed by the DMK-led government's achievements especially, waiving of farm loans, distribution of two acres of land to the landlless poor and distribution of colour television sets at free of cost.

He said to ensure DMK's victory in the Madurai Central Assembly constituency by-election and local bodies elections, the DVK's machinery would be fully geared up.

The party's volunteers had already commenced their campaign in favour of the DMK, throughout the state, he added.
