Cong demand poses challenge before constitutional posts
Bhopal, Oct 1 (UNI) Senior VHP leader acharya Giriraj Kishore today took exception to the clemency plea made for Mohd Afzal Guru -- mastermind of the December 13, 2001 Parliament attack -- by the Congress.
In a statement issued here, acharya Kishore said the clemency plea had put forth a big challenge before judiciary and constitutional institutions.
Pointing out that the demand undermined national security, he alleged that the plea was well-thought out strategy to affect 1993 Mumbai blast hearing.
The VHP leader accused the Congress and the Left parties of undermining the judiciary and the Constitution by getting passed a proposal for acquittal of 1998 Coimbatore Vidhan Sabha blast accused.
He alleged that Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Gulam Nabi Azad had insulted the feeling of several crore Indians by demanding clemency for Afzal.
