BJP constitutes three-member election appeal panel

Shimla, Oct 1 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the BJP has constituted a three-member election appeal committee to resolve disputes during the organisational elections in the state, party sources today said.

The committee was constituted by state incharge, O P Kohli, following violence between two groups of party activists during organisational elections with each accusing the other of irregularities in the election process.

The sources said Mr Karamdev Dharmnau, MLA, would head the committee, while BJP Vice President Ram Swarop Sharma and Jai Ram Thakur, MLA, would be the other members.

Meanwhile, State Electoral Officer, Ashok Sood, said only 88 complaints have been received out of a total of 7,000 local committees, indicating minor aberrations during the elections.
