Arms supplier from UP killed in Mumbai
Mumbai, Oct 1 (UNI) A firearms supplier from Uttar Pradesh was shot to death by the police at Santacruz in North West Mumbai late last night.
The police have identified the deceased as Mahendra Kumar Dwivedi.
Police control room sources today said they have also recovered one carbine, two imported pistols, four home-made revolvers and 22 live catridges from him.
The sources said a team, led by encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma, had received a tip-off that Kumar was scheduled to come near Air India colony at Vakola in Santacruz. He arrived at the spot at 0115 hrs.
When the police team asked Kumar to surrender, he fired four rounds at them before being shot in retaliatory fire.
Kumar, who hails from the Banda district of Uttar Pradesh, has 27 offences registered against him there, the sources added.
