Team Firefox to participate in 'Mountain Biking Himachal-2006'
Chandigarh, Sep 30 (UNI) A five-member Team Firefox will take part in the 650 km Shimla to Manali ''Mountain Biking Himachal-2006'' being organised by Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association (HASTPA) and supported by the Department of Tourism, Government of Himachal Pradesh, from October 5 to 13.
The Team Firefox will comprise Rakesh Mohindra, founder member of Chandigarh Amateur Cycling Association, body builder Sanjeev Pathania, ace mountain biker Balwant Singh and former student of Moti Lal Nehru Sports School, Rai, Kulbir Kaur.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Shivnder Singh, Managing Director, Firefox, said Firefox Bikes had redefined the cycling experience in India by introducing a wide range of over 30 models of premier international bikes. The Team Firefox will cover the entire stretch.
Asked whether arrangements for dope testing have been made, Shivinder Singh said ''we are not organising the MTB Himchal 2006.
However, I will take up this issue with the organisers.'' Saying that ''no one is old to cycling'', he said ''Firefox is building cycling activities. Fitness is becoming a core value not only for adults but also for children. Firefox is introducing the magic of biking that combines the thrill of competitive sports with the joy of a fun and family activity. Cycling has been universally recognised as one of the finest forms of excercise.'' Mr Singh disclosed that Firefox ''plans to organise cycling rallies, provide information about cycling tracks and encourge people to take up cycling as an adventure and leisure sport.''
