Polls to 166 mun. councils, two nagar panchayats on Nov 19
Mumbai, Sep 30 (UNI) State Election Commissioner Nandlal today announced that elections to 166 municipal councils and two nagar panchayats in Maharashtra will be held on November 19.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Nandlal said the election code of conduct will come into force from today itself.
But, it will be restricted to the concerned municipal council jurisdiction and not the entire district.
Announcing the election schedule, he said that the nomination filing process will begin on October 19. The last date of filing of nomination is October 28. Scrutiny of papers will be held on October 29. The last date of withdrawal is November three. The list of candidates with the alloted symbols will be published on November four.
The list of polling booths and voters will be published on November six. The elections will be held on November 19 through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the counting of votes will be taken up on November 20.
In Konkan division, the total number of municipal councils going to polls is 19, Nashik (28), Pune (33), Aurangabad (40), Amravati (33), Nagpur (14).
Dapoli nagar panchayat in Ratnagiri district and Shirdi Nagar panchayat in Ahmednagar district will also go to polls on the same day.
