New Karnataka's Chief Secretary takes over

Bangalore, Sep 30 (UNI) Dr (Ms) Malati Das, who took over as the New Chief Secretary today here, said she would give top priority to developement of infrastructure facilities to promote new economic activities in the state.

Dr Das, after taking over the charge from Mr B K Das, told newsmen here that she would also give priority to poverty alleviation programmes besides the infrastructure facilities.

First woman from state cadre, Dr Das had held the posts of Principal Sectretary of departments of Planning, Education, Animal Husbandry besides the Registrar of Mangalore University during the last ten years.

Dr Das, a native of Karnataka, has a Ph.D in Political Science to her credit.
