Litigation in SC to go high-tech from Oct 2
New Delhi, Sept 30: Come October 2 and litigants will be able to submit their grievances in the Supreme Court online.
Under the new system, petitions can be filed through e-mail at Rs 1.50 per page without any additional court fee or processing fee and the printing charges can be paid through any Visa/Master credit/debit card.
According to an apex court release, any Advocate-on-Record(AOR) or petitioner-in-person can file his or her case online from October 2.
Every AOR will be given a password after registering on the website www.supremecourtofindia.nic.in to maintain secrecy and prevent any tampering of the document.
A user-friendly programme with interactive features has been prepared by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
Every petitioner-in-person will have to prove his or her identity by giving some documentary proof such as ration card, PAN Card, driving licence or voter ID card. A unique reference number will be given for every matter.
Defects in the matter will be communicated to the AOR or to the petitioner-in-person through internet and the same can be cured through e-mail using the reference number given for the matter.
Notices/communications to the parties will be sent through e-mail wherever an e-mail ID is provided.
The matter filed online will have to be in conformity with the apex court rules.
