HM Ultra nabbed after escape from Doda
Jammu, Sep 30 (UNI) A Hizbul Mujahideen militant, who had escaped from police custody, was re-arrested by the police from Marwah in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
SSP Doda Manohar Singh said security forces were looking for the HM militant Mohammad Shafi, who had escaped from Chatru police station on September 13, while in handcuffs. He had gone behind bushes on the pretext of easing himself, but fled, he added.
Authorities had dismissed a special police officer (SPO) who was accompanying the militant and a head constable of Chatru police station, for letting the militant escape.
Mr Singh said a police party last night received got a tip-off that Mohd Shaffi was camping in Marwah and launched a search operation. He was arrested from a hide-out this morning and is being shifted to Chatru police station, where a case has been registered against him.
Meanwhile, two militants last night struck at Dessa village in Doda district and kidnapped a civilian named Murtaza Ali. They took him to a forest area and tortured him. Later, they beheaded the civilian and escaped.
The body of Murtaza Ali was found by the police this afternoon from Dessa forests and handed over to his family after post-mortem.
Reasons behind his killing could not be ascertained immediately.
In another incident militants barged into the house of a village headman Abdul Razzaq Chandel at Bhimdassa in Gool area of Ramban district last night and kidnapped him at gun point.
