Gangjee hangs on to lead; Ghei breaks into top 10

Taipei, Sep 30 (UNI) Rahil Gangjee returned an erratic even-par card to maintain his slender lead at the top even as compatriot Gaurav Ghei leapforgged to a tied sixth position after the penultimate round at the 500,000 dollar Mercuries Taiwan Masters here today.

Gangjee aggregates eight-under-par 208 in three rounds to hold one stroke lead over local favourite Wen-hong, who was the biggest mover after a superb eight-under-par 64 at the Taiwan Golf and Country Club.

Gangjee struggled in the opening stages with two consecutive bogeys in the third and fourth holes. He bounced back with birdies at fifth and sixth holes but dropped another shot at the eighth hole. After a birdie at the 10th hole, Gangjee struck a wayward drive which led to a double bogey at the par four 12th hole.

Gaurav Ghei, meanwhile, sizzled with an impressive three-under 69 card to break into the the top-ten. With an aggregate of four-under 212, Ghei shares tied sixth spot with the Taiwanese duo of Yeh Wei-tze and Chung Chun-hsing.

Compatriot Shiv Kapur carded one-under 71 round to share joint 15th spot with, among others, Amandeep Johl.

Digvijay Singh (76) and Harmeet Kahlon (77) had a nighmarish outing as they found themselves at 42nd and tied 43rd spot respectively.
