Fan from Gwalior warms up to Sourav

Chennai, Sep 30 (UNI) Sourav Ganguly may have been 'forgotten' by the selectors, but the former India captain and stylish left hander still has a place in the heart of his fans, as it appeared at the M A Chidambaram stadium here today.

When the Prince from Kolkata, affectionately called 'Dada', was relaxing after a stint at the nets for the India Greens breparing for the Challenger trophy beginning tomorrow, a physically handicapped fan of his managed to draw him into a conversation.

Dharamveer who came here on his own from his home town near Gwalior 'crawled up to him and shook hands with him and shared a few moments with his idol. Asked what he spoke to Sourav, Dharamveer, speaking in Hindi and a smattering of English, said ''I asked him why is not playing for India and Sourav told me the coach (Chappell) didn't pick him.'' Dharamveer, who is studying in XI th standard, said, Saurav was buying a ticket for him to watch the Challenger matches.

Meanwhile, many a young fan of Sourav also gathered around him for his autograph. Only the waiting posse of newspersons were disappointed as Sourav politely turned down requests from them to share his thoughts.
