Cobra scare closes down ICU in Asom hospital
Guwahati, Sep 30 (UNI) A massive cleanliness drive has started in the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) after three juvenile cobras were recovered from the Intensive Care Unit ICU).
GMCH authorities informed that these were found in the ICU on Wednesday and suspected to have entered through the ceiling.
The ICU was immediately fumigated and shut down soon after the incident, the sources said.
The hospital situated high atop a hill is surrounded with dense forests, hence, snakes and other reptiles are a regular feature here, with the occasional roar of the tigers, sources said.
The hospital sources said two of the snakes were found dead, while the third was handed over to the state zoo.
The zoo officials also searched the premises and confirmed that there were no other snakes.
