Antony, UDF cannot be absolved of responsibility: CM
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 30 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today criticised senior Congress leader A K Antony on his remarks on the Marad carnage, saying his previous United Democratic Front Government could not absolve itself of the responsibility of the carnage, that claimed nine lives in 2003.
Reacting to Mr Antony's defence of his Government's handling of the situation following the Marad massacre, he said the senior Congress leader who was then Chief Minister had actually acted as 'a prisoner of the Indian Union Muslim League, having mafia links.' Mr Achuthanandan said the 2003 massacre would not have happened if the Antony Government had heeded intelligence reports.
He said the Sangh Parivar outfits would not be allowed to exploit the findings of the Commission report that the NDF and a section of the Muslim League were involved in the incident.
