11th Plan earmarks Rs 3,410 cr for power sector in Haryana
Chandigarh, Sep 30 (UNI) A provision of Rs 3,410.40 crore has been made in the 11th Five Year Plan, for the development of power sector in Haryana, as against Rs 1,466.11 crore in the 10th Five Year Plan.
A spokesman for the Haryana Power Utilities said that efforts were being made to make Haryana a power surplus state by the beginning of 2010.
He said the entire northern region had been suffering from power shortage and the situation had improved somewhat by the recent synchronisation with the Eastern Grid.
He said the state government had also been pursuing a Nuclear Project for Fatehabad district which had been agreed in principle by the Prime Minister and the Nuclear Power Corporation.
Earlier, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had urged the Central government that the project of 2,800 MW be put up on priority as it would immensely benefit the northern grid.
