Workers should have partnership of industry: Sanjeeva Reddy

Rajahmundry, Sep 29 (UNI) Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) all India President and Vice-President of International Workers Union G Sanjiva Reddy today demanded that workers be made partners of the industry.

Addressing presspersons here Mr Reddy, who was visiting the town first time after becoming Rajya Sabha member, said each worker would be alloted 200 shares of the industry in which he or she was working.

It should be mentioned in the appointment letter that he or she was a shareholder-cum-worker of the industry, he added.

This concept was good for the growth of both industry and workers, besides creating an healthy atmosphere.

He said this new concept was accepted and appreciated by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for implementation.

According to Dr Reddy ninety per cent of employees were not getting bonus though the corporate sectors were earning huge profits.

A new bonus formula should be implemented to benefit all employees, he added.

Dr Reddy asked the government to enhance the compensation days from 15 to 90 days. The government was responsive to the change of compensation law, and in the next meeting Prime Minister would finalise the change, Dr Reddy added.

Dr Reddy said the state Labour Minister was not interested in his portfolio as he himself was holding an industry and not looking into labour problems.

He said it was brought to the notice of the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy also.
