Varun Gandhi meets Atal Bihari Vajpayee

New Delhi, Sep 29: Mr Varun Gandhi, son of BJP MP Maneka Gandhi, today met former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in an obvious attempt to indicate his keenness to seek the party's nomination for the October 30 by-election to the Vidisha Lok Saha constituency.

His meeting with Mr Vajpayee comes a day after the Election Commission announced the byelection dates. The vacancy was caused by the resignation of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who moved over to take the reins in the state to succeed Mr Babu Lal Gaur.

Party circles are expecting the party to take services of Mr Gandhi in the next Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections after his elevation in Vidisha.
