UGRA threatens to carry on armed movement
Siliguri, Sep 29 (UNI) United Gorkha Revolutionary Army (UGRA), a newly formed outfit, has threatened of carrying on the armed movement if the alleged police harassment of their chief's family is not immediately stopped.
UGRA spokesman Rudra Acharya, in a statement to a local news channel, said police was harassing their chief Ajay Dahal's relatives.
Police, meanwhile, detained Ajaya's brother Sanjay Dahal for interrogation after the statement was released, sources said.
The statement has sent ripples of fear across the area, sources added.
Darjeeling Superintendent of Police Rajesh Subarno said he was not aware of the statement, however, police are investigating the matter.
Police said Ajay is still at large.
