Triple murder in Kangra

Kangra, Sep 29 (UNI) A young couple and their two-year-old baby were brutally murdered at their residence in Bhawarna town of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, district SP D K Yadav today said.

While the husband, Vinod Kumar, 30, and wife Meera, 22, were strangulated, the child was gagged to death by tying a piece of cloth on her mouth yesterday night.

Mr Yadav said forensic experts had been requisitioned to examine the scene of crime and lift fingerprints from the spot, adding that motive of the triple murder was not known and a new family friend living with the family had been missing.

All the exit points have been sealed and a sketch of the suspect was being prepared to facilitate his early arrest, he added.

The post mortem examination of the bodies have revealed signs of strangulation, he said, adding that a case has been registered under section 302 of the IPC and investigations were on.

In another incident a woman, identified as Veena Devi, a resident of Kaully village in the district, was allegedly shot at by her brother-in-law and seriously injured, police sources said.

Her neighbourer, identified as Sunita Devi was also hurt in the incident, the sources said, adding that the motive behind the attack was being probed.

Both the women were admitted to a government hospital at Dharamshala and case under section 307 of IPC had been registered.

According to the sources, the alleged assassin, identified as Paras Ram, has been arrested and investigations were on.
