Three killed in Army helicopter crash in Nasik
New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) An Army helicopter crashed in Nashik today killing all three people on board, the Defence Ministry said.
Pilots Major Rohit Yadav and Major S Chakravarty, and technician Gopi Birlangi were killed when the Cheetah helicopter of Army Aviation corps crashed after taking off from the Nasik Aviation Base at 1407 hrs, the Ministry said.
Preliminary reports said the crash seemed due to a damage to the rotor.
An inquiry has been ordered into the crash, the Ministry said.
The helicopter was on a routine training-flying mission, it said.
Both pilots had over 450 hours of flying experience individually and were extremely competent, the Ministry said.
Maj. Yadav and Maj. Chakaravarty were undergoing training as flying instructors at the Combat Aviation Training School in Nasik.
