Ten people arrested for selling forest land
Bangalore, Sep 29 (UNI) Police today arrested 10 people, including two brokers, on the charge of selling 343 acres of forest land in Turahalli forest area on the outskirts of the city with duplicate documents even as authorities suspended the Kengeri sub-registrar for illegally registering the land.
Police said the arrests were made following a complaint by forest officials and the Tahsildar of the area concerned after the expose.
It may be recalled here that after a private channel exposed the deal, the opposition congress raised the issue in the ongoing special session of the Karnataka Legislature in Belgaum and demanded investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Bangalore Rural District Superintendent of Police K Srinivas said the absconding purchaser, Dinesh Kumar, was also considered a culprit and a case has been registered against him.
