T P Agarwal elected IMPPA president; plans distribution offices

Mumbai, Sep 29 (UNI) Mr T P Agarwal of Star Entertainments Pvt Ltd, has been elected as the president of the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA).

''IMPPA will set up distribution offices for the benefit of small budget producers. Presently, there are no buyers for small budget films. Distributors exploit such producers. With IMPPA's distribution offices, the producers can give 5 to 7 per cent commission to IMPPA and keep the balance amount out of the total profits,'' he said.

Ms Sushma Shiromanee has been elected as senior vice -president, Mr Anand Girdhar is the treasurer and Mr Vinay Kumar Sinha is the vice president.

The elections were held yesterday.

Talking to UNI, Mr Agarwal said the protection of the producers interests and unity among all producers associations, like the Association of Motion Pictures and Television Programme Producers (AMPTPP) and the Film Producers Guild with IMPPA, would be the prime agenda during his tenure.
