Sixty injured in stone pelting at Nanded
Nanded, Maharashtra, Sep 29 (UNI) At least 60 people, including 10 policemen, were injured in stone pelting between two groups in various localities of the city today.
The police opened about seven teargas shells before resorting to lathi charge to disperse the mob which indulged in arson and stone pelting.
The police arrested about 37 persons belonging to both the groups Superintendent of Police (SP), Fattesingh Patil told reporters at a news conference here this evening.
The trouble started when the miscreants pelted stones on the supporters of the expelled NCP MLA Shalinitai Patil were returning after her programme in the city this afternoon, the police said.
Ms Patil's supporters who were in a large number allegedly returned the attack by resorting to stone pelting in various localities of the city, a result of which, several installations of the city as well as vehicles were damaged, police sources said.
City's Shivajinagar, Bhagyanagar, Vajirabad, Pool area, Shukrawar Bazar localities were the worst affected by the violence, the sources said.
Meanwhile, the situation is now totally under control and adequate police bandobast has been deployed in the affected areas, the police sources said.
