Services in HAL to continue as public utility

New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) The services in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited will continue as a public utility under the Industrial Dispute Act, 1947 for another six months with retrospective effect from September 24 this year.

In a notification issued here, the Labour Ministry has said that this has been done in public interest. The Central Government had earlier declared the services in the above said industry as a public utility for six months from 24 March, 2006.

The employees in this industry, as a result, would among other things be required to give notice to their employer six weeks in advance of proceeding on strike so that conciliatory proceedings could be started. During the conciliatory proceedings and seven days after their completion, the employees cannot go on strike.
