Sensex trades 77 pts up in noon trade
Mumbai, Sept 29 (UNI) The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex) is today trading 77 points in the green in the early noon trade, as buying continued in index pivotals, except the banking sector.
Profit taking led to the decline of banking scrips, however, data for India's GDP growth by 8.9 per cent in the April-June 2006 quarter from previous year, boosted by manufacturing and services output, aided the manufacturing and the consumer durables sector. FMCG was up by 1.13 per cent and metals by 1.79 per cent.
Major gainers on the index were Maruti Udyog, Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel, Ranbaxy, NTPC and Relicance Communciations all up between 1.71 to 2.19 per cent.
Besides, the losers were ICICI, Hero Honda, HDFC Bank, SBI, Infosys and Cipla, all down between 0.04 to 1.14 per cent.
