RPI member Shegaonkar to take oath as Mah Minister on Oct 4
Mumbai, Sep 29 (UNI) Republican Party of India legislator Preetamkumar Shegaonkar will take oath as Maharashtra's Minister of State for Housing in place of Dayanand Mhaske on October 4.
Mr Shegaonkar was elected to the Legislative Council few months ago. RPI leader Ramdas Athavale had not renominated Mhaske for the Legislative Council biennial elections. Mr Shegaonkar was elected in his place from the Legislative Assembly quota, sources said.
The decision was taken at the meeting of the Congress-NCP co-ordination committee held at Sahaydri Guest House in South Mumbai. The meeting was attended by Chief MInister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, Mumbai Congress president Gurudas Kamat, AICC general secretary Margaret Alva, Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, MPCC president Prabha Rau, NCP state president Arun Gujarathi and Preetamkumar Shegaonkar.
It was also decided to set up manifesto review committee comprising state unit president of both parties, one minister and one general secretary each from Congress and NCP.
The state unit presidents of both parties have been authorised to set up district level co-ordination committees comprising local leaders of both parties.
