Prof's death: Court summons doc
Ujjain, MP, Sep 29 (UNI) A local court today summoned the doctor, who performed a post-mortem on Professor H S Sabharwal after he died in student violence.
Judicial Magistrate Vidhi Saxena issued the directive while hearing a petition accusing Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan of concealing evidence and making false statements.
The petition, filed by Prof Sabharwal's son Himanshu Sabharwal, was admitted in the court on September 6 under sections 201 and 203 of the IPC.
During the hearing today, the district hospital's Dr Kishore Nagar told the court the post-mortem had been performed by Dr P N Verma and not by him. However, the post-mortem report carried his signature since he was present during the autopsy.
Mr Sabharwal's counsel Kailash Nagar said the court had summoned Dr Verma on October 13.
He said after Dr Verma's statement was recorded, Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Manoj Push and City Superintendent of Police Manoj Singh would be called for recording statement.
Prof Sabharwal had died when students attacked him over postponement of student unions election on August 26.
Although Mr Chouhan had ordered a CID inquiry into the matter, he said he felt that the incident was an accident and not a murder.
