Prof Soz meets Sri Lankan President
New Delhi, Sept 29 (UNI) Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz today called on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse in Colombo and hailed his initiative to evolve a national consensus on peace process.
Prof Soz reiterated India's commitment to a united Sri Lanka and for a peaceful negotiated settlement which addressed the genuine aspirations of all sections of that country. He also highlighted the historical friendly cooperation between the two countries, specially in the fields of rain water harvesting environment, Information Technology and grassroots democracy.
He also briefed Mr Rajapakse about the outcome of the International Conference of Rain Water Harvesting held at Sri Lankan town of Kandy on September 27 and 28. He also interacted with several Muslim leaders of the host country besides attending the Iftar hosted by Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka.
