PM asks for strict a adherence to fiscal revenue deficit Tgt

New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) was today apprised of the fiscal deficit and revenue deficit position of the government and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh directed that the targets in this regard be strictly adhered to.

The Prime Minister asked the various ministeries and departments to keep the expenditures within the budgeted amount.

Briefing newspersons on the outcome of the CCEA meeting, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said the expenditure figures of the government in the first four months of the current fiscal were placed before the government.

Earlier, in the day Mr Chidambaram expressed confidence that the fiscal deficit target of 3.8 per cent and revenue deficit target of 2.1 per cent will be met in the backdrop of buoyancy in tax revenues.
