MP HC reserves order over maintainability of petition against CM
Jabalpur, Sep 29 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today reserved its order over maintainability of a petition seeking setting aside Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's election from Budhni on charges of alleged violation of poll code and holding offices of profit.
Hearing arguments on maintainability of the petition filed by defeated Congress candidate Rajkumar Patel, Justice A K Saxena has reserved his order.
Petitioner's counsel Manoj Sharma told the court Mr Chouhan headed state boards and corporations, besides holding the post of Chief Minister and as such his nomination for the by-election was invalid.
Besides, Mr Chouhan misused government machinery and violated the model code of conduct during campaigning for the bypoll.
Mr Chouhan's counsel Ravish Agrawal raised questions over the maintainability of the petition.
