Man seeks dowry; burns wife, 2 kids in Bharuch

Vadodara, Sep 29 (UNI) A man set ablaze his young wife and their two children in Bhalod village in Bharuch district after his wife allegedly refused to bring more dowry.

Umala police, which had registered the offence, said a manhunt was on to nab the accused who managed to flee after killing the trio members of his family in a gruesome manner yesterday.

Sources said the accused Pravin Prajapati poured kerosene over his 25-year-old wife Kokila and set her on fire, while she was breastfeeding her 1-year-old baby Nikunj, in the first floor of their Bhalod residence following a fight over dowry.

Later, the accused, who used to torture his wife for dowry since their marriage five years ago, caught hold of his eldest son Amin (5) and killed him in a similar manner in the same room.

The villagers took the victims to Bharuch civil hospital, where Amin was declared brought dead, while Kokila and her younger baby succumed to their injuries.
