K'taka Govt resolves DD's Dasara coverage woes
Mysore, Sep 29 (UNI) A day after declining to live telecast the famous Mysore Dasara procession, slated for October two, Doordarshan today agreed to cover the event following the Karnataka Government's intervention in the row.
Speaking to mediapersons here, district incharge minister D T Jayakumar said Doordarshan Bangalore Kendra Director Mahesh Joshi agreed to telecast the event live after Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy assured him of all the facilities for the TV crew. The misunderstanding between the police and DD officials has been cleared following the Chief Minister's intervention. Necessary instructions have been given to Deputy Commissioner S Selva Kumar in this connection, he added.
Meanwhile, in a statement here, Mr Joshi said, ''We will go ahead with the live telecast of the entire Dasara procession'' and thanked the state government and the Chief Minister for resolving the issue.'' City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood said there was some misunderstanding while issuing passes to crew members and now the entire issue had been solved.
It may be recalled that Doordarshan had announced last night that it would not cover the event live in protest against the ''non-cooperation'' of the commissioner and the non-availability of the required number of passes to accommodate its personnel.
