Kiriyenko to visit China to discuss N-power unit construction
Moscow, Sep 29 (UNI) Head of Russian Federal Nuclear Power Agency, Rosatom, Sergei Kiriyenko is leaving today for a five-day visit to Beijing and is expected to discuss the construction of a second unit at a nuclear power plant in China.
Russia's Atomstroiexport, the nuclear power equipment and service export agency, is building the Tianwan nuclear power plant which uses improved VVER-1000 reactors and K-100-6/3000 turbo-generators, under an agreement signed in 1992, between the two countries.
Before his departure, Mr Kiriyenko told mediapersons that the first unit of the Tianwan nuclear power plant, would be commissioned in November, this year.
"I am also planning to discuss the construction of the second energy unit of this power plant during my visit to China," he said.
Mr Kiriyenko is also scheduled to participate in the session of a subcommittee on bilateral cooperation in the nuclear power sector and will meet with the chairman of China's National Defence Science, Technology and Industry Commission.
