Muslim scholars spread message of humanity: Prez
New Delhi, Sep 29: President APJ Abdul Kalam today said Islam strongly opposed violence and terror and asked Muslim scholars to spread holy Quran's message of humanity and brotherhood in the world to foil attempts of violent and terror groups to disrupt peace and harmony.
Interacting with prominent Islamic scholars of Egypt at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President said true Muslims and followers of the Prophet should come out openly against terror. The Egyptian scholars who are on a month-long visit to India at the invitation of Maulana Peerzada Shabbir Naqashbandi, President of the All India Religious Leaders Association(AIRLA), presented the President with CDs of holy Quran, compiled by famous AlAzhar University of Cairo.
Egyptian Ambassador to India Mohammed Higary and Hafiz Fayaz Ali, Chief Coordinator of Quranic Campaign and Press Secretary of the President S M Khan were also present on the occasion.
Peerzada Naqashbandi, while informing Dr Kalam of religious activities of the Egyptian scholars during holy month of Ramdan, said Muslims of India always fought against terrorism. They are true patriotic citizens of the country, who fought along with other communities for independence of the country.
He also presented a green shawl to the President on behalf of the scholars. The Egyptian scholars recited verses of holy Quran and offered special prayers for peace and harmony in the world.
