Jipmer not to stage "Road roko"
Puducherry, Sep 29 (UNI) The JIPMER Anti-conversion Peoples Action Committee dropped its proposed road roko for today and tomorrow on a request from JIPMER staff, in view of the issue pending in court.
AIADMK state secretary A Anbazhagan told media persons here the committee proposed to put up road blockades and court arrest today and tomorrow to press the Centre to drop the move to grant autonomy to JIPMER.
However, JIPMER employees, pointing out that the issue was pending before the Madras High Court requested the committee not to go ahead with the road roko.
Mr Anbazhagan said the committee would organise a rail-roko stir here on October 3.
Meanwhile, JIPMER employees continued their indefinite strike for the 22nd day and sat in dharna in front of the hospital, disrupting medical services in the Centrally administered hospital.
The employees had expressed willingness to resume duty if suspension and termination orders issued against them were revoked and police cases withdrawn. However, the JIPMER administration maintained that the employees should first join duty and only then it would consider revocation of disciplinary action against them.
