House gutted in fire at Autonagar

Vijayawada, Sept 29: A four-portion thatched house was gutted in a fire at Autonagar here late last night, resulting in an estimated loss of Rs 60,000.

Fire department sources told sources today Nagabushnam and his three sons ran out of the house after neighbours alerted them. They were just in time as a gas cylinder exploded as they were coming out.

Sparks from an electric wire, which fell on the house, were stated to be the reason behind the fire mishap.

Two fire engines were pressed into service and doused the flames in an hour.
