Highway blockade called in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 29 (UNI) The All Manipur Died-in-Harness Appointment Demand Committee (AMDIHADC) has announced that it will launch an indefinite economic blockade of national highways from Oct 5 if the state government does not concede their demands.

The Manipur government had temporarily suspended the died in harness scheme due to a ban on appointment of government employees in Manipur. The state government was recruiting only those in the essential services.

The committee has also expressed unhappiness as the apex body of the employees the Joint Administrative Council has not taken up their case properly.

The committee alleged that some cases were taken up by the government while most were ignored. There should be no favouritism, it said.
