Govinda's nephew Ahuja and others granted bail

Mumbai, Sep 29 (UNI) The Session Court here today granted bail to actor-turned-Congress-MP Govinda's nephew Janmedra Ahuja and three others arrested by the city police last Saturday on charges of assault and intent to molest a woman.

Additional sessions judge A T Amlekar granted bail to all the four persons on a bond of Rs 5,000 each and surety of like amount.

All the four alleged accused have approached the session court after their bail plea was rejected by the Andheri magistrate court yesterday. Magistrate court had on September 27 sent all of them to judicial custody till October three.

Defence counsel argued that medical report of the applicant showed that the injuries are simple in nature hence section 326 of the IPC is not applicable to them.

Police have arrested Janmendra Ahuja, son of Govinda's brother Kirti Ahuja along with three of his friends - Bilal Shanavaz Khan, Gaurav Baghai and Purav Jagdish Mehta, all residents of Lokhandwala in Juhu area of the city on the basis of a complaint filed by Dayanand Chincholikar who is personal assistant to Maharashtra Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sunil Tatkare.

Chincholikar in his complaint alleged that the incident occurred on last Thursday as the youths passed remarks about his wife, and when he objected, they abused and bashed him up. After the incident, they fled from the place in their car, he said.
