Golden chariot for Iyeeppaswamy temple

Chennai, Sep 29 (UNI) A 11-feet golden chariot for Sri Iyeeppaswamy temple, Raja Annamalaipuram, here was made at a cost of Rs 40 lakh, Temple trust secretary K R Ramasamy said.

Talking to newspersons here yesterday, he said three kg of gold and 200 kg of copper were used for making the wood chariot.

The chariot, weighing about one tonne, was covered with copper and plated with pure gold leaf, he added.

A function would be held at the temple in connection with the taking out of the deity of lord Sri Iyeeppa in a procession on the golden chariot around the Karpagraha of the temple on the auspicious day of Ayudha pooja on October one, he added.
