General strike cripples life in Kashmir
Srinagar, Sept 29: Life was paralysed in the Kashmir valley today following a general strike called by breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) against Delhi court's death sentence for Mohammad Afzal Guru, prime accused in the December 13 Parliament attack.
Shops and other business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads.
Work in government offices and other under takings was effected due to strike called by Hurriyat Conference and supported by other separatists and militant organisations.
The educational institutions wore a deserted look as the teaching staff and students stayed away in response to strike call.
Reports of complete shut down have been received from other major towns in the valley.
A report from Baramulla said that streets wore a deserted look as shops and other business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the road.
