Durga puja celebrated in Manipur
Imphal, Sep 29 (UNI) Durga puja has been celebrated in Manipur amidst pomp and splendour.
The festival is celebrated in traditional Manipuri style by worshipping Ima Panthoibi( Goddess) and Durga by the Hindu populace.
Huge pandals have been erected in the heart of the city by Hindustani Samaj. Hundreds of devotees flocked to the temple to offer prayers. The Bengali community have also organized special programmes at Kali Mandir, Imphal.
Special programmes have been organized at every locality at Manipur. Cultural programmes, devotional songs were presented in front of the deity by the devotees.
The city wore a festive look as the houses were decorated. Even though the government has banned use of crackers in the state it could not deter the people blasting crackers all day long. Most crackers were imported from neighbouring Myanmar.
