DMDK loses 'Murasu' symbol for local body elections
Chennai, Sep 29 (UNI) The Desiya Murpoku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) will not get 'Murasu' (Nagara) symbol for the ensuing local body elections.
Disposing of a petition filed by DMDK's General Secretary S Ramu Vasanthan, seeking a direction to allot the Murasu Symbol, Ms Justice Prabha Sridevan of Madras High Court today said petitioner was given an alternative Symbol of 'Deepam'.
Allottment of the symbol shall be done in accordance with Rule 7 (2) (b) of the Tamil Nadu Local Body Election Symbol (Reservation and Allotment) Order, the judge added.
Meanwhile, disposing of another petition filed by Janata Party President Dr S Subramanian Swamy, seeking to allot the 'Chakra Haldar' symbol for his candidates, the judge said allottment of such common symbol shall be done in accordance with Rule 7 (2) (b) of the Tamil Nadu Local Body Election Symbol (Reservation and Allotment) Order.
