Discovery launches 'Discovery Week', 'Discovery Marquee'

Bangalore, Sep 29 (UNI) Premier entertainment and educative television channel, Discovery, has launched two new programmes -- 'Discovery Week' and 'Discovery Marquee'.

While 'Discovery Week' would facilitate the viewers to navigate the channel better, highlight the channel's programme variety and seek appointment viewing, 'Discovery Marquee' reconstructed some of the most fascinating historical epics, combining archival footage with recreated images produced using Computer Generated Imagery and latest animation techniques, backed by meticulous research, investigation and first person account.

Talking to newspersons here, Channel Associate Director (Marketing and Communications) Rajiv Bakshi yesterday said the 'Discovery Week', to be anchored by Bollywood actor Rahul Khanna, would be an half-hour, 13-episode series. It would provide viewers a sneak preview of the following week's biggest programmes, their unique content, relevance and technologies adopted to create them.

It also included interviews and on-site interactions with experts who would share their experience on the subjects covered.

He said the personalities featuring in the episodes include Ketan Mehta and his take on 'Discovery Marquee', Sanjay Suri recollecting his real life experience similar to that of a boy featured in 'Floating Lamp of The Shadow Valley' and Mumbai-based nutritionist Pooja Makhija endorsing the content presented on 'Honey We're Killing the Kids'. Malaika Arora Khan would be sharing her views on Discovery's Women's Hour special 'Runway Moms'.

Mr Khanna, speaking after the launch, said Discovery Channel was his favourite channel right from his childhood. It offered a refreshing variety of programmes that besides providing insightful information also entertained the minds of millions across India from all age-groups and lifestyles.

'Discovery Week' would be aired every Saturday at 2200 hrs from September 30 and re-telecast on the following Sunday at 1130 hrs, while 'Discovery Marquee' would be beamed every Monday at 2000 hrs from October two.
