Depression over north-west Bay of Bengal
Visakhapatnam, Sep 29 (UNI) A depression formed over north-west Bay of Bengal moved towards the west and lay centered at 125 km east-south-east of Gopalpur.
A special weather bulletin released by the Cyclone Warning Centre here today said the system was likely to move further in a west-north westerly direction and cross Orissa coast near Gopalapur by this evening.
Under its influence, rain or thundershowers were likely at many places over Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhaatnam districts with isolated to heavy rainfall during the next 36 hours. Rain or thundershowers were likely at a few places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh during the same period.
The strong surface winds from north-easterly direction with speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph were likely along and off north coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours.
Squalls with wind speeds reaching 55 to 60 kmph were likely along and off coastal areas of Srikaklulam, Vizianagaram and Vizag districts.
Heavy to very heavy rains were likely at a few places over Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts and isolated heavy rains were likely over east and west Godavari districts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh during the same period.
The state of sea was rough to very rough. Fishermen were adivsed not to venture into the sea.
