Depression over Bay of Bengal; more rains in AP

Visakhapatnam, Sept 29: A depression has formed over West Central Bay and adjoining East Central Bay of Bengal and lies centred at 250 km south east of Paradeep.

The Cyclone Warning Centre said the system was likely to intensify further and move in the west northwesterly direction and cross the Orissa coast between Gopalpur and Paradeep by tomorrow morning.

Under its influence rain or thundershowers were likely at many places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh with isolated heavy falls during the next 36 hours. Rain or thundershowers were also likely at a few places over south coastal Andhra during the same period.

Strong surface winds from the northeasterly direction with speed upto 45 to 50 kmph were likely along and off north coastal Andhra during the next 24 hours, while they would reach 45 to 50 kmph from the northwesterly direction along and off south coastal Andhra.

Fishermen had been advised not to venture into the sea, which would be rough to very rough. Distant cautionary signal No 1 had been hoisted at Kakinada, Machilipatnam and Visakhapatnam Port.
